Cambridge B1 Preliminary (PET):


Course description:

GET A GLOBALLY RECOGNISED CAMBRIDGE CERTIFICATION

Cambridge English: B1 Preliminary is also known as the Preliminary English Test (PET). This exam demonstrates that you can communicate in English practically in daily situations.

Reading and Writing

Demonstrates you can read and understand the main points from signs, newspapers and magazines, and can utilize vocabulary and structure correctly. 

Listening

You should be able to follow and understand a variety of spoken tasks including announcements and discussions about daily life.

Speaking

This would put into evidence your spoken English in addition, demonstrates your ability to sustain a conversation by asking/answering questions and talking, for example, about your likes and dislikes.

Your Speaking test will be conducted face to face with one or two other candidates and two examiners.

Writing

You would learn how to write different pieces of writing, such as letters, reports, reviews and essays. The writing skill acquired during this course would be useful for any endeavour you may wish to undertake that requires written knowledge of English.

Listening

Requires you to be able to follow and understand a range of spoken materials, such as news programmes, presentations and everyday conversations.

Speaking

You would learn or improve your ability to communicate efficiently and confidently in face to face situations, therefore, you would master the ability to give information in a one-way communication, two-way communication, make suggestions, agree politely, disagree politely and achieve task objective.

Course description:

It is a deep, high-level qualification that proves a learner has the language skills necessary to undertake employment and pursue a higher level of study.

Reading and Use of English

Demonstrates test takers can confidently handle different types of text, such as fiction, newspapers and magazines. Tests your ability to control your grammar and vocabulary.

Writing

You are required to write two different pieces of writing, such as essays, letters/emails, proposals, reports and reviews.

Listening

Checks your ability to follow and understand a range of spoken contents, such as interviews, radio broadcasts, presentations, talks and daily conversations.

Speaking

Checks your ability to communicate accurately in person in 1-1 situations. The Speaking test is done with another candidate.
